Me attempting a scrapbooking challenge. lol!

Recently I have been dabbling in Scrapbooking...
...taking a class at my work place.

So this is my attempt at a Scrapbooking Challenge by Orange Paperie & co.

The challenge is a base challenge which I think I could have taken too literally but I'm still learning all of these technical terms.

Anyway here is my November challenge page, with my gorgeous nephew, whom I miss very very much.

The colour above seems to be distorted by the light and my camera, the colour below is more the natural page.  I chose the blue because of the photo effect on my nephew's eyes.

My note is directed at him, i promise to cherish you forever!
(easy to tear up whenever I think of my beautiful nephews, the youngest of them I haven't  even met in person. Will show you a picture at the bottom of what I'm missing out on.)

Experimenting with pearls and lace, wanted a more pretty than rustic look.

Here are my nephews.

Absolutely adorable!
Easily missed.

First Attempt

In February 2011, I decided to try my hand at patchwork.

I had a new nephew on the way and he was due in May/June so I thought I could whip up a cot quilt / wall hanging for the new baby.
I chose a Noah's ark centre panel from the Kookaburra Cottage collection from work.

I chose to use the centre panel and add simple square piecing to the edge to make a cot quilt size.  I also wanted to do traditional colours for the quilt to grow with my nephew.  Instead of remaining childish in brights.

With only a basic machine, I hand to hand blanket stitched around all of the applique piecing.

Using the pattern I chose traditional colours which would come together and work in harmony.

I took coordinating fabric and colours to add square piecing around the edge after I had blanket stitched the centre panel.

Finished the centre panel by embroidering eyes and Noah's name on a flag on the pole.

My colleague at the store kindly quilted the finished top for me and here was the finished project.

My first attempt....

Simple craft story

Just wanted to start...
...on the 10.11.12
to document a simple crafting journey.

I can show you where I started and each project I take on.

Working in a craft shop is inspiring everyday, I just wish I had more time and money to do all the things my imagination dreams up. (like we all do)

During the last two years, I have experimented with lots of new craft, out of my comfort zone of basic card making, which is my original love from the UK.
Now here in Australia, doors have opened and I have met so so many amazing ladies all involved in different crafts.

Patchwork = Ally, Sarah, Lorraine, Glenda & Kate
Embroidery = Connie, Sue, Vicki & all the wonderful bag ladies.
Doll Making = Annie
Scrapbooking = Mary, Kim and Annette
Card making = Christine & Gail

There is such a community here in Orange and I am lucky to have stumbled into a heavenly job, with absolutely devoted crafting companions!

I have joined two classes since being here in Orange, embroidery & scrapbooking, of which I can share projects from on this blog.

Here I go...
