You colour my world

hello everyone...

Popping in to the blog today to show you my latest creation for Scrap the Boys Card making challenge.

The challenge for the month of June is to use stitching on your card.

Here is my card...

I used my skills in embroidery to stitch on my card this month.  I did another version with my sewing machine but the look was cleaner with the hand stitching. Here is a close up...

I used coloured inks to emphasise the coloured embroidery threads.

I was lucky to come across a globe die cut from some happy mail I had received because it was perfect for me to use the sentiment, "you colour my world".

Hope you get the chance to create along with us this month, we would love to see you over at Scrap the Boys Challenge blog

I absolutely loved this challenge, inspiring me to get out my needle and thread.

Take care

we create our tomorrows by what we dream today

Sherlock III: a New Case
Bec here, showcasing the new collection from Meg's Garden.
With this amazing collection of vintage papers, I have created a layout for this awesome composition photo of my nephews. I have used 3 of the A4 papers to create this background and have layered them to show how effective they are together.
Here is a close up of the crackled background paper that I placed just behind the photo to co-ordinate with the brickwork and walls in the photo.
I used 3 of the metal embellishments down the side of the photo to draw the eye back to the main piece on the page.
I have layered the clock face charm on the round filigree trinket.
I have used a saying from the Ephemera from the Poetry ephemera sheets. I felt it linked well with the photo.
I stamped a diamond pattern along the edge of the background paper and the opposite side on the compass background paper
Here is the stamping on one of the new collection A4 pages.
I have placed black rhinestones on the corners of the layers to define the corners.
All of these products can be found on Meg's Garden website, follow the link below or click on the links I have provided to the individual products.

BE AS AWESOME AS YOU CAN

Sherlock III: a New Case
Be as awesome as you can.
I am popping in to show you my latest creation for Meg's Garden, using the NEW collection.

Using the Sherlock III, paper collection, I have created this layout of my nephew, Nathaniel.
I have tried to replicate the peeling paper with the brown kraft paper on the background.

I have used the layered papers from one of the background sheets as ephemera.

I really like the reflection of the owl in the water so I tried not to cover it.

I have used black enamel dots to repeat the black brad holding the sentiment tag.
BE AS AWESOME AS YOU CAN.

I hope you like what I have created today with products from Meg's Garden, follow the link to her website below for more of an idea of what she sells.

Commissioned

Recently, I was commissioned to make a 60th birthday card and as the birthday has passed, I get to share what I created.

The brief was for a sister that loved the ocean.

I started by experimenting with watercolour paints because I wanted to create the look of water rippling over the sand.

I used rock salt to make a bubble effect.

I used a white paint pen to fleck the background to add more texture to the water.

I layered cream embossed paper, tulle, and a fine artist straw, to make a bed for some sea themed chippies.

I used a round scallop chipboard piece to frame the centre piece of the card.

I also added pearls around to tie in the colours.  With a chipboard 60, I placed in the corner for this significant birthday celebration.

With the description of her sister, the sentiment "My favourite part of us is you!" was the perfect fit.

Hope you like my latest creation.

Take Care Everyone
